How-to Use 8 Way Bee Escape:
- Preparation: Before installing the 8-Way Bee Escape, ensure that your hive is well-ventilated. Choose a time when the majority of foraging bees are out of the hive, typically during the day when temperatures are warmer. This minimizes disruptions to hive activity.
- Placement on Honey Supers: Gently place the 8-Way Bee Escape on top of the honey supers, ensuring a snug fit. The escape features eight directional exits that guide the bees out of the supers but prevent them from re-entering. The efficiency of this tool lies in its ability to encourage a one-way traffic flow.
- Timing for Harvest: Allow sufficient time for the 8-Way Bee Escape to work its magic. Depending on hive conditions and bee behavior, it may take a day or two for the majority of bees to vacate the supers. Monitor the hive to ensure that the escape is effectively diverting the bees.
- Removing Honey Supers: Once you observe a significant reduction in bee activity in the honey supers, it’s time to harvest. Carefully remove the supers, taking care not to disturb the remaining bees. The 8 Way Bee Escape’s design ensures a calm and controlled environment for honey collection.
- Inspecting and Reusing: After honey extraction, inspect the 8 Way Bee Escape for any debris or propolis. Clean it thoroughly before storing it for future use. The durable construction of the escape allows for multiple applications, making it a cost-effective and sustainable solution for beekeepers.
