Beekeepers – your body needs to be protected! It is always advisable that you wear protective clothing, bee gloves and boots when working with bees. Ensure you are double-checked before you begin an inspection.
Best size for a beekeeper is ALWAYS at least one size bigger than you would normally wear or buy for yourself! You need wriggle room underneath the bee suit and overall while still wearing your normal clothes.
Make sure the bee overall is washed in a cold wash. Some shrinking is to be expected and this is one reason we recommend beekeepers take a size larger than they usually do.
Other reasons would be due to it being hot and sweaty inside the bee suit. With a larger size, you get some air between you and the bees and room for your body to breathe.
Plus, you need to wear your normal clothes underneath the bee suit in order to provide that extra layer.
